Blythe Spirit IV

I found her in the container yard of Hyde Shipping, Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in September 2007. Her last registration was in 1994. At 13 years of age, she had been stranded, on the hard, for 13 more years. Still, her graceful lines were apparent.

I bought her for $1500.00 in October 2007, with a genoa, a jib, but no mainsail. She came with her Arrow trailer (built in Miami in 2001), a VHF radio, and a 1987 8hp Yamaha long shaft outboard. I dropped her mast and Tony Mascia, the Terminal Manager and a wonderfully helpful guy, towed her to my home for me. I am indebted to him for arranging the purchase and enabling delivery. He's a good friend to have, and he has earned my gratitude.
